Morton - Vicki L. Christensen, 59, of 2151 N. Morton Ave., Morton, died at 3:50 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at her home. She was born March 3, 1950, in Peoria to Stanley M. and Doris E. (Robison) Thurm. She married Gary Bentley. She later married Steven Christensen on July 23, 1994, in Bartonville. Surviving are her husband, Steven of Morton; three sons, Ryan Bentley of Savannah, Ga., Dan (Brea Anne) Bentley of St. Louis, Mo., and Adam Christensen of San Antonio, Texas; and three grandchildren, Sanson Lonergan, Michael and Anya Christensen. She was preceded in death by one son, Geoff Bentley on Dec. 14, 2002; her parents and one brother, Michael Thurm. She attended Brigham Young University until returning to Illinois, graduating from Illinois State University in Normal in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in Education with an emphasis on teaching the blind and low vision. Vicki worked for the Tazewell-Mason County Special Education Association for the past 14 years and also worked as a contractor for the state of Illinois as an Early Interventionist for blind and low vision infants for 10 years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Morton and recently served as the Director of the Family History Center in Peoria.
