Morton - Janis L. “Jan” Zimmerman, 65, of 22614 N. Main St., Morton, died surrounded by her family at 1:20 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.
She was born Sept. 24, 1944, in Morton to Benjamin and Betty (Roach) Rassi. She married John A. Zimmerman on Dec. 19, 1965, in Morton.
Surviving are her husband of Morton; three children, Jeff Zimmerman of Morton, Jody (Jeremy) Shaw of Peachtree City, Ga., and John (Holly) Zimmerman of Dunlap; six grandchildren, Fiona, Scarlett, Lincoln, Isaac, Taya and Myles; her mother, Betty Rassi of Morton; one sister, Joyce (John) Kamp of Washington; one brother, Jim (Sharon) Rassi of Pekin; aunts; uncles and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Jan adored spending time with her husband and family. Her primary ministry which she did so well during this life was loving and caring for Jeff, their handicapped son. Jan ran the race of life so well by God’s grace, and even though she lost the battle to cancer, she’s won and received the ultimate prize.
Jan was a member of the Morton Apostolic Christian Church.
