Morton - Patty Lou Braden, 80, of Morton, passed away at 5:40 p.m. Monday, May 31, 2010, at her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born May 22, 1930, in Beloit, Wis., to Willard and Helen (McDonald) Wright. She married Harry W. “Bill” Braden on Sept. 24, 1950, in Brownstown, Ill.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years. Also surviving are her brother, Bill (Maddy) Wright of Morton and three beloved nephews, Lindsay Wright, Craig (Tammy) Wright and Kevin (Wendy) Wright, all of Morton. She is also survived by two great nephews, Jordan and Alex Wright, and two great nieces, Taylor and Megan Wright, whom she dearly loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother and one sister.
Patty Lou was a 1948 graduate of Hononegah High School in Rockton, Ill. For many years, she and her husband, Bill, raced harness horses throughout the country, coast-to-coast. They were also owners of the Patio and Townhouse Restaurants in Vandalia, Ill., where Patty was also a Realtor. She relocated her highly acclaimed business to Las Vegas, Nev., where they lived for over 20 years. In 2006, they moved to Morton to be nearer to her family.
Cremation has been accorded.
