East Peoria - John L. “Jack” Kelch, 78, of East Peoria, formerly of Morton, passed away at 11 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2010, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born Jan. 9, 1932, in Peoria to Anthony and Cecelia (Gardner) Kelch. He was married to Imelda Giltner but then married Margaret Ruth on Dec. 14, 1973.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Kelch of East Peoria; one son, Thomas (Shelley) Kelch of Washington; five daughters, Andrea (Michael) Gallagher of Edwards, Melanie (David) Althaus of Gallipolis, Ohio, Julie (Gary) Seibold of Metamora, Sherryl (Aaron) Kelch-Seaman of Morton and Pegi Kelch of East Peoria; one stepdaughter, Maura Minton of Morton; 15 grandchildren, Ted, Chance, Jessica, Brandy, Sarah, Emily, Joshua, Jared, Jacob, Nicholas, Gabriel, Alexander, William, Kylei, Zachary; two great-grandchildren, Margaret and Ethan; one sister, Teresa Walker; and one brother, Edward Kelch.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and three sisters.
A veteran of the Navy, Jack worked at Hiram Walker & Sons Distillery in Peoria for 31 years, retiring in 1981. He later worked at Weinsteins which became TNT Sports Bar & Grill in East Peoria.
He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Jude Council in Peoria.
Jack was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton.
