Morton - Audrey D. Webb Dayhuff, 90, of Eureka, formerly of Morton, died at 12:17 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka.
She was born on September 27, 1919 in Iowa City, IA and was adopted by Nicholas and Mary (Homer) Cook. She married Keith W. Webb on December 18, 1937 in Moline, IL where they raised seven children.
She was preceded in death by her husband Keith Webb, her second husband Robert Dayhuff and sons, Lyle Webb and Charles Webb.
Surviving are daughters, Brenda (Rudy) Seidell of Morton, IL, Barbara (Les) McDowell of Bishop, CA, Judy (Homer) Harrison of Bullhead City, AZ, two sons, Jerry (Sally) Webb of Whittier, CA and Kenneth (Joyce) Webb of San Rafael, CA, and sixteen grandchildren.
Audrey lived her first 44 years in Moline, IL before moving to Southern California where she worked in retail and banking. Audrey loved to dance and traveled around the state to numerous square dancing events with friends and family. After living in Tucson, AZ for ten years, she returned to Morton, IL to retire and be close to her daughter.
She was a member of the Methodist Church. All of her life she held firm to her religious beliefs and lived her life accordingly. This provided her an inner strength and vision, which guided her through many of life’s challenges. It also provided a strong foundation to raise her seven children with what she liked to call that ‘Midwest basic value’. She was the rock of our family, holding us together through good and bad times; she made complicated things very simple and was always there for us. And everyone that knew her loved that smile.
She was the last of her generation and we will all miss our mother, grandmother, aunt and friend dearly.
